What have we got for you this week? Nothing but the finest in second hand Mk3 Volkswagens! To tempt you this week we have chosen a Vento 1.8 GL running petrol, rather than the devils oil.
The Vento is a standard 1.8 8v engine producing 90bhp. Not dazzling figures I hear you say, however it will do very nicely for running to the shops and back. Since rolling out of the factory in 1994 the car has only completed 100k, nothing to a reasonably maintained VW engine. Another bonus, being the early/mid cycle Vento, it should avoid the worst of the rust problems plagued by some of the later mk3s.
The Vento has been dry stored for the last few years and hence, has no tax or mot, however for a mere £370 for what is considered a modern classic that is getting hard to come by, it’s a very reasonable figure. Fitted with coilovers all round a recent paint job, it really isn’t bad.
In regards the paint job, the Vento was originally white. It has since had some work. Top Gear once posed the question ‘Can a car be art?’ Well, one look at this and the answer can simply be yes, it can. In 2010 the Vento was used in the world renowned Scally Rally and the previous owner clearly felt it needed some ‘personality’ injected into it. Foreign Assassins Krew in Belfast who created this modern art masterpiece were happy to take on the task, tuning the Vento into something unique, recognisable and very … erm … conspicuous?
Advertised as a project, the Vento could be a one of a kind car that will draw attention at shows. Enhance your social standing and make yourself the center of the conversation with this eye-catching piece of art that be worth many, many pounds at some stage in the future. A cheap and easy project to be had for very little money, best get on now before all the good Ventos are gone.
